On March 17 in the morning, Russian artillery was constantly firing at residential areas of Chernihiv. One of the shells hit people who were waiting in line at one of the supermarkets in the heart of Chernihiv.
Four people are reported to be killed and many more injured. An American citizen was among the killed. This was confirmed by Volodymyr Nidzelskyi, head of the Chernihiv Oblast police department.
According to Clicker, an American media, James Whitney Hill was native of Minnesota, USA. He was 67 years old.
James Hill was a teacher at SWPS Uniwersytet Humanistycznospołeczny, Warsaw, Poland, and a lecturer at the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, as he indicated on his Facebook page. He came to Chernihiv together with his girlfriend.
It was reported earlier that on March 16, the Russian troops shelled people who stood in a bread line in one of the residential areas of Chernihiv. As a result of the artillery strike, 14 people were killed, and dozens were injured.
